喜びと哀しみ

君の喜びは、
君の悲しみが仮面を取った姿なんだ

同じ井戸から君の笑い声が響いたり、
君の涙で満たされたりもする

どうすればいいんだろう?

悲しみが刻みつけた傷が深いほど、
君が手にする喜びもきっともっと大きくなる

そのワインを満たしてる杯は、
かつて窯で炎に焼かれたんじゃないかな

君の心を癒す響きを奏でるそのリュートは、
きっとナイフで切り刻まれたあの樹だったんじゃないかな

すごく嬉しい時に　
心を深く覗き込んでごらん
きっと分かるよ
今　喜びをくれてるものが、
あの日悲しみをくれたものと同じなんだってことが

悲しいときにも　
同じように心を覗いてごらん
やっぱり分かるはず
今　泣いている理由と、
あの日すごく喜んでた理由が一緒なんだってこと

「喜びの方が悲しみよりすごいよ」って言う人
「いや、悲しみの方がすごいよ」って言う人

僕だったらこう言うな、

「分けらんないよ、そのふたつは」ってね

ふたつはいつも一緒にやって来る
片方が君と一緒に食卓についてる時
もう片方は君のベッドで眠ってるんだよ

僕たちは悲しみと喜びの間に吊るされた秤みたいなものかもね
バランスが取れて静かに止まってるのは、
なんにも乗ってない時だけ

そう、そこに金とか銀とかが乗っけられて
宝物の持主が重さを計ろうと秤を持ち上げたりするから
喜びや悲しみも上がったり下がったりするんだ

きっとそんなことなんだよ

Your joy is your sorrow unmasked.
And the selfsame well from which your laughter rises was oftentimes filled with your tears.
And how else can it be?
The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain.
Is not the cup that holds your wine the very cup that was burned in the potter’s oven?And is not the lute that soothes your spirit, the very wood that was hollowed with knives?When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy.
When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.

Some of you say, “Joy is greater than sorrow,”
And others say, “Nay, sorrow is the greater.”
But I say unto you, they are inseparable.
Together they come, and when one sits, alone with you at your board, remember that the other is asleep upon your bed.

Verily you are suspended like scales between your sorrow and your joy.
Only when you are empty are you at standstill and balanced.
When the treasure-keeper lifts you to weigh his gold and his silver, needs must your joy or your sorrow rise or fall.

触れるものも
この体に入れるものも

いつもそうならいいね

美しさの基準は人それぞれ
私が美しいと感じるものを
誰かは何とも思わないかもしれない

誰のものでもなくていいから

自分の外にも内にも

美しいと感じるものを
美しいと知っているものを
認めていよう

それが美の解放
